UG Courses
A) Theory
40% of the aggregate (Summative + Formative Exam marks)
- No separate pass minimum marks for Formative evaluation.
- 27 marks out of 75 is the passing minimum marks for the external.
B) Practicals
- 40% of the aggregate (Summative + Formative Exam Marks)
- No separate passing minimum marks for internal.
- 21 marks out of 60 is passing minimum marks for the external.
C) Project
40% of the aggregate (Project Evaluation – 80 marks(40 Internal + 40 External) + Vivavoce – 20 marks)
- 21 marks out of 60 (External + Viva) is the passing minimum marks for the project evaluation.
- 21 marks out of 60 is passing minimum marks for the external.
PG Courses
A) Theory
- 50% of the aggregate (Summative + Formative Exam Marks)
- No separate minimum for the internal
34 marks out of 75 is the pass minimum for the external.
B) Practicals
- 50% of the aggregate (Summative + Formative)
- No separate minimum for the internal
- 27 marks out of 60 is the pass minimum for the external.
C) Project
- 50% of the aggregate (Project evaluation (80 marks) + Viva Voce (20 marks))
- No separate pass minimum for the Vivavoce
- 27 marks out of 60(External + Viva) is the pass minimum for the project evaluation.
Grading System
The grading system will be followed for UG, PG and M.Phil Courses.
Marks and Grades for UG Programmes
The grade point for each UG course is computed by dividing the Total Marks by 10.

PG & M.Phil Programme
Passing Minimumis 45% summative examination & 50% in aggregate of formative and Summative exam.
- For the award of class in all the PG and M.Phil programmes, a student shall be declared to have passed
- In the First Class with distinction if he/she secures 75% or above
- In first class if he/she secures 60% or more but less than 75%
- In the second class if he/she secures 50% or more but less than 60%.
- A student must not only pass all the courses specified by the board of studies and approved by the Academic Council but also must acquire the required number of credits recommended by these bodies for the award of the degree.
- The mark scored by a student in supplementary or repeat exams will not be considered for rank. However such marks will be taken into account for the award of classes.

Award of Classes
UG Programme
Classes will be awarded separately in Part I Language, Part II English and Part III Major.
- There is no separate award of class for Part IV and Part V. But the completion of Part IV & Part V is a requirement to qualify for a degree.A student shall be declared to have passed
- In I class with distinction for a part if he/she secures, in aggregate for that part 75% or more
- In the I class if he/she secures 60% or more but less than 75%
- In second class if he/she secures 50% or more but less than 60%
- In the third class if he/she secures 40% or more but less than 50%.
- These classes will be awarded on the basis of marks in the aggregate for all courses in a part as prescribed by the respective board of studies.
- Repeat attempts will not block the award of these classes.
Extra Credit Course or Self Study Course
Along with the Mark statement in the CBCS system credits are awarded to the student for the extra credit course or self study course also.
A student can earn extra credits by registering for a specially designed self learning course in any department. He/she is expected to study on her own and fulfill all the evaluation requirements. This option is available from the II semester onwards. All the final year UG students will join the ECC course Employability Enhancement Programme I & II.
